90 Degree Upender Greatly Reduces Wellhead Assembly Time

Autoquip’s 40,000 lb. capacity Upender Tilt Lift improves an oil and gas well assembly process.

A leading provider of technologies and services to the oil and gas industry needed to improve their wellhead assembly process by finding an easier and safer way to upend them. The current process takes up to 4-5 hours using an overhead crane/hoist. This can be a dangerous process for the personnel and could damage the wellheads.

Working with our dealer ESS Group to understand the customer’s challenges, Autoquip designed a 90 Degree Upender that will effortlessly reposition the load. The tilt mechanism is engineered for titling 90 degrees with a 40,000 max lifting capacity. The lift can tilt the load at an impressive 80 seconds up and 120 seconds down which will save time in production costs. The lift system includes vendor supplied accessories: custom fit fixture designed especially for the wellheads, removable guarding, and pressure sensitive safety mats.

The lift system has saved tremendous amounts of time and labor – what use to take 4 to 5 hours has reduced the application time by half. Personnel are protected with the integration of safety features supporting the operation of the lift and environment around the lift.
