Autoquip’s Guide To VRC Options
The key to success in any operation is getting the most out of your equipment. Whether you are moving a specified load or protecting your personnel, integrating various options to your vertical reciprocating conveyor, or VRC, can expand the operational capacity of your investment. Discover how adding more functionality to your VRC can help execute multiple tasks and provide an extra level of safety with our customizable design options.
VRC Options Provide Advanced Performance And Safety Measures
All VRCs are required by ANSI/ASME B20.1 code to have enclosures and gates to protect personnel while the lift is operational. Add safety gates and enclosures to accurately fit your new VRC and the requirements of the surrounding facility layout.
Product orientation, accurate and precise handling, high-speed production, and interfacing with existing equipment are all within our areas of expertise. At Autoquip, we integrate the following options with many of our VRCs:
- Gates and enclosures
- Ramps for surface-mounted
- Lighted Push Button stations
- Roll-up doors
- Smart Controllers
Specialized VRC Options
Autoquip provides specialized options for VRCs that can help monitor and control freight loading to minimize damage and downtime.
- Powered Deck Locks
- Load Cells
- Onboard Carriage Controller
- Visual Light Indicator System
Here is a deeper look at each of these specialized options:
1. Powered Deck Locks
When the VRC carriage arrives at the designated level, Autoquip’s powered deck locks are controlled to automatically lock the carriage in place while loading/unloading or when maintenance work is carried out.
Benefit – Safety and efficiency.
2. Load Cells
Load cells can gauge and monitor load capacity on an industrial scale (carriage platform). Scales help measure overload potential, which can help prevent abuse of the lift or breakdowns.
Benefit – Preventative maintenance.
3. Onboard Carriage Controller for Distributed Communication
Self-contained control system onboard carriage provides greater flexibility to pass information at the carriage level back to the main PLC controller to record status and signal function.
Benefit: Simpler to install for multiple level VRCs.
4. Visual Light Indicator System for Overload Monitoring & Protection
While many VRCs are able to handle huge loads, it’s important to have a system in place that monitors potential overloads. Visual light indicators let you know when loads are approaching capacity. Overloads can cause damage to your lift.
Benefit: Safety of both the machine and the operator.
