Battery Operated Portable Tork 2 Scissor Lift
Introduction
Removal of furnace covers for steel coating process is improved with battery powered traversing lift.
Project Challenge
A Steel Coating manufacturer wanted a portable lift to lift, lower and position for the removal of a lower furnace chamber cover for their steel processing assembly.
Our Solution
A battery powered traversing lift was used due to a low headroom condition where a fork truck would not fit into the available space. The clear raised height was 105” with 48” of travel. This function is performed on a second level floor so there are manually operated floor stabilizing jacks employed to distribute weight, but also to add stability to the lift with the extremely large cover on the lift platform. The furnace cover can still be extremely hot when dismantled requiring a double thick platform for heat dissipation so the lift components are not exposed to the direct heat. The lift and horizontal travel functions are controlled by a joy stick.
