Pit Mounted Scissor Lift Improves Loading Parts To Overhead Conveyor
Introduction
Pit Mounted Scissor Lift used to raise fixture with parts to overhead conveyor that feeds to powder coating line.
Project Challenge
JR Custom Metal Products specializing in turn-key, custom products for large O.E.M. companies designed a new pressurized, contaminant free building for their powder coating line. As part of their new clean facility, they wanted to incorporate a hydraulic scissors lift instead of using a forklift to attach parts to their overhead conveyor system. The hydraulic scissors lift would be used to raise two workers and a fixture holding small parts up to the overhead conveyor. The workers would unload the parts off the fixture and onto the overhead conveyor to feed into the powder coating line.
Our Solution
Autoquip designed a pit mounted 60S40 Series 35 hydraulic scissors lift with bevel toe guards and accordion skirting. The pit mounted lift is flush with floor to roll fixture onto the lift. Customer added guardrails to the platform so the fixture is secured properly when the lift is raised. Workers are harnessed to handrail during the operation of the lift.
The Results
The lift, which is now installed at JR Custom Metal Products in Wichita, KS has saved the company an extraordinary amount of time by eliminating fork lifts to load parts to the overhead conveyor. The lifts hydraulic actuation is also better suited for clean conditions in their new state-of-the-art powder coating facility.
