Transmission Inspection Station
Introduction
Series 35 scissor lift used for inspection table for rebuilt transmissions.
Project Challenge
Autocraft Corporation required a lift to improve ergonomics in their inspection and quality assurance stations to prevent QA inspectors from having to bend down to inspect castings and other subassemblies as part of the overall re-building of automotive transmissions. The lifting solution needed to be cost-efficient, durable, and reliable.
Our Solution
A hydraulic lift with low-medium lifting capacity and ergonomic range of vertical travel was recommended as the most cost-efficient method of providing adjustments in elevation that kept the product at an optimum, ergonomic work height during inspection. In addition, Autoquip also recommended that the lift be supplied with foot-operated controls instead of hand-operated controls. This way the lift can be operated “hands-free” to improve operator efficiency and increase throughput of the inspection station. The customer is completely satisfied with this work station lift, and worker productivity improved as a result of keeping the work more nearly within the ergonomic “power zone” of each of the inspectors.
Lift Specifications for this Application:

The Results
Through the addition of a hydraulic lift, the quality assurance workstation now includes an ergonomic inspection lift that eliminates bending during QA inspection and improves throughput in this area of the overall assembly process.
